ISO 27001 Certification

Professional guidance and preparation for information security standard certification.

Preparing for ISO 27001 Certification

CyberVision helps organizations build robust Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) in accordance with the international ISO/IEC 27001 standard. We guide you through the entire journey — from the initial gap analysis to successful certification and beyond, ensuring your ISMS remains effective, audit-ready, and aligned with your evolving business risks.

What Is an ISMS?

An Information Security Management System (ISMS) is a structured, risk-based framework for managing an organization's sensitive information. ISO/IEC 27001 requires organizations to operate a continuous Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle and to select and implement relevant controls from Annex A — 93 controls grouped into four themes: organizational, people, physical, and technological. Certification demonstrates to clients, regulators, and partners that your organization manages information security risk systematically, not ad hoc.

Our ISMS Implementation Lifecycle

We support you through every phase of building and certifying your ISMS:

1. Gap Analysis & Scoping

  • Assess your current security posture against ISO/IEC 27001 requirements
  • Define the ISMS scope — business units, locations, systems, and information assets in scope
  • Identify missing policies, controls, and documentation
  • Deliver a prioritized roadmap with estimated effort and timeline to certification

2. Risk Assessment & Risk Treatment

  • Identify and evaluate information security risks across your assets, processes, and third parties
  • Build and maintain a risk register with likelihood, impact, and risk owners
  • Define risk treatment options (mitigate, transfer, avoid, accept) for each identified risk
  • Prepare the Statement of Applicability (SoA), justifying which Annex A controls apply to your organization

3. Policy & Documentation Development

  • Draft mandatory ISO 27001 documentation: information security policy, risk methodology, SoA, ISMS scope statement
  • Develop supporting policies and procedures (access control, incident management, business continuity, supplier security, and more)
  • Align documentation with existing regulatory obligations (e.g., CBAR № 14/2, PCI DSS, GDPR) where applicable

4. Controls Implementation

  • Roll out selected Annex A controls across technical, organizational, and physical domains
  • Support technology and process changes needed to close identified gaps
  • Establish ongoing controls monitoring and evidence collection for audit purposes

5. Staff Training & Awareness

  • Deliver ISMS awareness training for all employees
  • Provide role-specific training for control owners, internal auditors, and management
  • Build a security-aware culture that sustains the ISMS beyond certification

6. Internal Audit

  • Conduct a full internal audit of the ISMS against ISO/IEC 27001 requirements
  • Identify nonconformities and improvement opportunities before the external audit
  • Support corrective action planning and evidence remediation

7. Management Review

  • Facilitate the formal management review required by ISO/IEC 27001
  • Present ISMS performance, audit results, risk status, and improvement opportunities to leadership
  • Document decisions and resource commitments needed to close remaining gaps

8. Certification Audit Support

  • Prepare your organization for the certification body's Stage 1 (documentation review) and Stage 2 (main certification audit)
  • Coordinate evidence, interviews, and site visits with the certification body
  • Support timely closure of any audit findings or minor nonconformities

9. Maintenance & Continual Improvement

  • Support annual surveillance audits to maintain certification
  • Keep the risk register, SoA, and documentation current as your business changes
  • Prepare for the recertification audit at the end of the three-year certification cycle
  • Drive continual improvement through metrics, internal audits, and lessons learned from incidents

Certification Audit Stages

  • Stage 1 – Documentation Review: The certification body reviews your ISMS documentation, scope, and readiness, and identifies any areas that need attention before Stage 2.
  • Stage 2 – Certification Audit: Auditors assess whether the ISMS is effectively implemented and operating as documented, through interviews, evidence review, and site visits.
  • Certification Decision: Following a successful Stage 2 audit, the certification body issues your ISO/IEC 27001 certificate, valid for three years.
  • Surveillance Audits: Conducted annually (typically in years one and two) to confirm the ISMS remains effective and compliant.
  • Recertification Audit: A full audit conducted before the three-year certificate expires, to renew certification for another cycle.
